What to do in Las Vegas if you WIN the Grand Prize part Four!

The Las Vegas Strip

Now some of you might have thought this would have featured earlier, but the other three just won out for me.

This is the famous, or some would say infamous, Las Vegas Strip, it's part of Las Vegas Boulevard that has a load of Hotels, Resorts, Casino, Shopping malls, restaurants and pubs.

Here is a useless fact for you, fifteen of the world's 25 largest hotels by room count are on the Strip, with a total of over 62,000 rooms. Pretty amazing eh? just to put in perspective, that is a room for each person that lives in Nelson. And there is 124,270 rooms all up which would be enough for everyone who lives in Tauranga and if we wanted two to a room that would be enough for everyone in Hamilton.

When you fly into Vegas the Strip looks kind of like a cartoon land that rises from nowhere. Going along with the cartoon feeling it doesn't really look real and it looks a little on the small size, this is a trick of light or something because once you get on the strip these places are massive.

Just by going by the room count of the 15 biggest on the Strip that averages over 4000 rooms per hotel which takes up a lot of space, then you add to that HUGE casino floors with pokie machine, blackjack, roulette etc, then there is the restaurants, theatres, bars and retails stores. These are just what is in your average hotel.

On the Strip it has something for everyone, whether you want to see a show, like to eat, are an animal lover or dig the nightlife scene.

When Kim and I got married in Las Vegas around 20 of our friends joined us and they were a diverse bunch, we had a librarian, a party animal and everyone in between and they all said it was a trip of a life time.

Here is a recent map of the main part of the Strip below:
