This is not a treatment for asthma, infection, sleep problems or breathing difficulty, and it should not be used simply to sedate a child. Blue lips, laboured breathing, unusual difficulty waking, poor feeding or dehydration need prompt medical care.
Although labelled from birth, the liquid contains ethanol, liquorice and a sedating herb. Liquorice can affect blood pressure and potassium, while Californian poppy may add to sedative medicines. Check the current label and dose with a pharmacist or child-health professional before infant use, and administer only under close adult supervision.
